Friday's, from up here
It is Friday. It is my day off. Most Friday's I spend the afternoon at my small, round table in my second-story apartment. With a large screen door to my right and full-length window to my left, I have a great view of the events below. Typically, I am working on Hebrew, listening to lectures, or reading some book listed to the right of this blog. Throughout my internship year, some of the best stories have come from watching people from my vantage point....up here.
I have had this familiar verse on my mind for the past day: "The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous runs into it and is safe." Each Friday, for the past 10 months, I have witnessed a variety of days: rainy, snowy, sunny, chilly, and blazing hot. He holds the clouds above me with his fists. He sprinkles down the rain with precision. He hurls a sun ray with pinpoint accuracy. It is my endeavor to run to the tower of strength.
From up here...in the strong tower...things look completely different. With a sovereign God in my presence, there are no fears. With His steady hand to comfort, all preocupations vanish. May I always see Friday's....from up here.
