All Roads Lead to Christ
By Scott A. Fulks
No, I am not a universalist. Nor am I a liberal. Every avenue must lead to Christ. Better stated, every avenue should lead to Christ. The choice remains in our hands. God has given each of us abilities, talents, passions, and gifts. Personally, I love soccer, art, languages, competition, and good food. What every believer must realize is that these are not an end in themselves. They are a means -an avenue- by which we point others to Jesus Christ.
A few weeks back, I began playing soccer with several Mexican painters who live in my apartment complex. A few nights a week we throw down a few chunks of cement, a shirt, or any other lose item that makes for a goal post and play a game of pick-up soccer. I love soccer. I even love speaking in Spanish with them. Yet, these passions, gifts, and talents that the Lord has given me are not an end in themselves. They serves as doors, as roads by which I can travel toward an opportunity to share and demonstrate my Savior. It is my prayer that as I play, as I speak, and as live life in front of these guys that the Lord will grant an open door of opportunity to share the gospel of Christ.
